MEDIA ADVISORY: SensAble Showcases Technology and Touch-
Enabled Applications at EuroHaptics 2010 in Amsterdam
New Devices and Features Demonstrate Breadth of Offering and Ease of Programming
Made Possible by SensAble’s PHANTOM® Force-Feedback Haptic Devices
WOBURN, MA – July 6, 2010 – SensAble Technologies, Inc®, the leading provider of haptic devices, 3D modeling software and dental CAD/CAM solutions, is showcasing a wide range of devices and haptically-enabled applications using the latest features of its industry-leading PHANTOM® haptic (force feedback) devices and OpenHaptics® developer tool kit at the EuroHaptics 2010 conference in Amsterdam, Thursday, July 8th through Saturday, July 10th.
Haptics, the science of touch, allows computer users to “feel” and manipulate virtual objects. SensAble is the force-feedback haptic device provider of choice with over 8,000 of its systems installed worldwide in 3D modeling, dental, medical skills training and assessment, stroke rehabilitation, molecular modeling, assembly path planning, haptically-guided robotics and training for the visually impaired.
SensAble, along with its partners, SenseGraphics, of Stockholm, Sweden, and Engineering Systems Technology (EST) of Kalserslautern, Germany will showcase innovative haptically-enabled applications that rely on SensAble’s haptic devices. Needle insertion and punch biopsy applications will demonstrate the ease of working with SensAble’s OpenHaptics toolkit and QuickHaptics API to quickly program a sense of touch to an application. SensAble also will display a new modular PHANTOM Desktop configuration,a form factor that offers more flexibility for system integration, and new features that support exceptionally precise control of the position and orientation of the virtual tool in a training application.
